Iloilo University Employee Arrested in ₱816K Drug Bust | BalitaBNB
In an impactful joint operation, operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) have apprehended a casual employee of the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology. The suspect, a 54-year-old resident of Barangay Balabag, Santa Barbara, was long classified by intelligence units as a high-value individual (HVI) in the regional drug trade.

The sting, executed on Wednesday evening, led to the confiscation of suspected methamphetamine (shabu) valued at ₱816,000. This collaborative effort, involving the Santa Barbara Municipal Police and the Provincial Intelligence Unit, signals an intensified campaign to eradicate illegal drugs across various sectors of society, including academic institutions. This development highlights the vulnerability of public entities to illicit networks and underscores the critical need for continuous vigilance and internal auditing within state agencies.
