Senate Minority Bloc Forces Removal of Controversial Video from Records; Solid 11 Coalition Moves to Rebrand Senate

The Philippine Senate minority bloc successfully moved to strike a video from the official Senate records that was presented by Senator Imee Marcos during a privilege speech. The video alleged that members of the minority were involved in Charter change (Cha-cha) efforts linked to a 'no election' scenario in 2028. Minority members, led by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, denounced the content as unparliamentary propaganda and disinformation, ultimately forcing Marcos to agree to its removal.

Simultaneously, the 'Solid 11' (SB-11) minority bloc, led by Senator Risa Hontiveros, is actively working to restore the Senate's integrity and is engaged in backchannel efforts to install Senator Sherwin Gatchalian as the new Senate President. The group seeks to reorganize the current majority leadership, though their current efforts to recruit additional members from the 13-man majority led by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano have yet to yield results.
