The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has reported a significant financial milestone, with its net income more than doubling during the first quarter of 2026. The state-run pension fund announced that its earnings rose to P43.6 billion, a remarkable 170 percent increase from the P16.1 billion recorded during the same period last year.
According to the official statement released on Thursday, this robust financial performance was primarily fueled by strong investment gains. These earnings were substantial enough to effectively offset the rise in claims and benefit payouts managed by the institution.
This growth trajectory highlights the agency's improved fiscal health and its ability to navigate volatile market conditions while continuing to serve its members. As GSIS continues to manage a growing portfolio, the substantial uptick in quarterly income serves as a positive indicator for the sustainability of its insurance and retirement programs.
