Senator Sherwin T. Gatchalian has renewed his call for the Department of Education (DepEd) to expedite the recruitment of teachers. This comes after the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) approved the creation of 32,916 teaching positions under the 2026 national budget, with an allocation of P42.4 billion to fund these new items.
The creation of these teaching positions aims to address the shortage of teachers in the country, which has been a longstanding issue affecting the quality of education. With the approval of the budget, the DepEd is expected to move swiftly in hiring qualified teachers to fill these positions.
The timely recruitment of teachers is crucial in ensuring that students receive the best possible education. It is imperative for the DepEd to prioritize this matter and work efficiently to fill the vacancies, thereby enhancing the overall educational experience for students across the country.
